First off, the Six cards are all about restoring stability, balance and harmony after being distracted in the Fives. The Six here is security at a grander level. The man pictured has attained great wealth, more than average, and everything else which goes hand in hand with this, and supports keeping that state. It may include having a well-paying job, additional income, luxury and comfort, a big and comfortable place to live in, safe investments, and/or having multiple jobs supporting and complementing each other and widening the possibility for more than one stream of income.
But the essential meaning of this card is generosity, hospitality and reciprocity. In a daily reading, the Six of Pentacles usually refers to giving or receiving, or both. This card can mean that you are kind and warm-hearted and give generously to those who have less than you, or you may receive generosity from others in a time of need.
It could mean that some financial or other material assistance arrives that will change the course of your destiny if you act wisely. Or it may be expressed through giving or receiving a gift or any kind of support, assistance or service. It also includes buying or paying for services or support. As a daily card, it suggest that it is a good day for any kind of trading or shopping. You may buy your favorite items for a lower price than average or you may make a good trade.
Maybe it’s now your turn to support someone else who once supported you, or vice-versa. And it is again about trading. Anyway, if you need help today, don’t hesitate to ask for it because the Six of Pentacles points to all chances receiving it, and maybe even more than you expected.
But if you are the person pictured in the card, with a great deal of resources, then this card is calling you to help those around you. Maybe invite someone for a meal or drop a pot of Spring flowers off to someone. It is our responsibility to keep the karmic scales we each hold in balance. If we give freely of our kindness now, miraculous assistance may aid us in the future, when we are the one in need.
I wonder if some of you have lives consumed by hardship, and have you thought about how it affects your capacity to give? I know I have, and have sometimes been very sad about my own decreased capacity to give. For example, for 2 years I have been dealing with chronic pain from degenerative disc disease in my back, and sometimes the depression that can occur with long-term pain. Due to my good job, at which I have worked hard for many years, and the accompanying health insurance, I have been able to receive the support from an excellent medical team. Although presently I have a physical disability and severe mobility limitations, and now my job (and therefore, health insurance) is not so secure anymore, this card reminds me that I can still find ways to give to others each day. One small way, I sincerely hope, is through these daily readings.
May our day be blessed with generosity, hospitality, and reciprocity.
