The Voyager Tarot is a very different tarot deck, with photo collage and with new titles for the types of cards, and for the Suits. Here we have the Balance card for today. Akin to Justice in traditional decks, here we do have the presence of a Sword, but more pronounced is the large Crystal, which is a Suit in the Voyager Tarot, replacing Swords.
All of this is to say that this card takes place in the realm of the mind, insight, awareness and consciousness.
So, in the Voyager Tarot book, an attribute of this card that is highlighted is that it is number VIII, and that the number 8 (see the infinity symbol?) represents balance among the ever-present change in life. Like Libra energy, if one is to maintain an equilibrium in life, then one needs to use the mind to make continual calibrations and adjustments in response to change.
For some reason, a gyroscope comes to mind, a device used for maintaining orientation, with its main axis unaffected by outward motion or disruptions. This has never come to mind for me before, as a visual metaphor when thinking about keeping myself “in balance.” Maybe the Balance card reminded me of a gyroscope, with everything pivoting around that central sword. Regardless, below is an image of a gyroscope, of the sort that came to mind.
Maintain a balance in the different ways that you think, creative vs analytical, decisive vs reflective, etc. And remember to consider all perspectives of a matter, and act in fairness – including being fair to all tarot aspects of yourself, mind, heart, body and spirit. Aim for a sense of proportion in your life. All mind and nothing else is a stressful way to live. All heart and nothing else is a painful way to live. Nurture and allow time for each aspect of your life, each and every day.
I needed this card perhaps more than you today. Time to go engage in some balance!
