Two is the number of balance, partnership, or choices. Wands is the suit of energy, ideas, and action – and the element of Fire. When the Two of Wands Tarot card shows its face in your reading, you know that there is an important choice coming for you to act upon, or there is a need for balance balance in life.

This card reminds us that we must make time for ourselves, look after our health, spiritual wellbeing and emotional needs. If we do this then we are giving ourselves as much balance as possible, thus connecting us more securely to our spiritual self. 

At the same time, the Two of Wands represents personal power, courage, and creativity. Tapping the same source of energy as that of the Magician of the Major Arcana, the Two of Wands stands for personal power brought down to earth. But remember, we are not the Source of that power – we are each a unique conduit for Its powerful expression.

I am reminded of the first line of Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas’s famous poem, “Through the green fuse drives the flower.” Thomas paints us a portrait of the poetic power of the natural world’s renewal and rebirth. Imagine that force – the sun, if you will – powerfully calling a flower into being, from seed to stem to sublime.

In this particular Tarot deck, we see here in this card a woman with a long flowing robe, off the shoulder, and long flowing hair. Along with the scenery, and the tender young leaves blooming from the wands, it seems like a warm Spring day. She appears relaxed and confident to me. She has one wand in her hand, like a staff for moving forward, and another wand firmly secured as a back-up. And she has the whole world in her hands, and is looking out toward the future.
